This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
Sophisms of the Protectionists M FREDERIC BASTIAT Books
Being protectionist in some form or degree today is in vogue on the left and in the Republican orbit. The plans that they propose are no different in substance than what Bastiat faced in the 1800's. Easy to read and apply the common themes to today's arguments and see there really has been nothing new added to the proposition of doing to ourselves in peace what we do to enemies in war.Product details

Sophisms of the Protectionists M FREDERIC BASTIAT Books Reviews
Bastiat is a brilliant economist. His best qualities are his ability to explain economic ideas in non-technical language and his ability to give easy to follow examples which illustrate those ideas.
Still pertinent today. Clever examples throughout to refute any sophism of the protectionist. I highly recommend this book for anyone serious about standing up for freedom.
Masterly written defense of free trade. Protectionists beware! Bastiat's argumentative and writing style at its highest. Recommended read for libertarians.
Trump could learn a thing or two. Free trade is for the benefit of the people, tariffs are for the benefit of a few producers.
M. Bastiat's work in the 1840's shoud have demolished the Protectionist arguement for all time but, like weeds, bad ideas keep springing up. At the special price, this book is a steal! M. Bastiat's work is a pertinent to today's arguements about economics as when he wrote them.
