What Count Otto wouldn't give right now for a good moat monster.

It's no wonder Count Otto didn't want to get out of bed this morning. A blight has affected his crops, his kitchen staff's just been poisoned, and all the Counts of the area will gather soon at his castle for a feast. Worse, there's a dragon in Yonder Wood over yonder, and it just ate Father Frank yestereve. And with his moat monster missing, Count Otto has no protection against the Viking traders headed this way...

A rollicking medieval adventure full of surprises & twists & humor that will not only make you chuckle, but downright guffaw.

For all those who, like the author, never liked history until much, much later.

Count Otto Dragon Don Bemis Books

If you like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, there is nothing you will dislike about Count Otto's Dragon. You can almost hear the Knights of Camelot singing the funny songs--in fact, you get some very silly songs gratis in Don Bemis hilarious new book Count Otto's Dragon.

Events can't be much worse for a Count with his own super anti-Viking surly maid, his uproariously intellectually disadvantaged friend Count Rollo, his leftover Friar Fred (leftover from Father Frank's unfortunate encounter with the Dragon), and his very capable cook Perry the Poacher (who does poach, er fish). With all this help, he still has dragon problems, Viking problems, pirate problems, and white knight problems. White knight, you see, must be good--they dress in...white.

Amongst the churls and peasants you get a great load of medieval yucks and historical detail--just not the kind of historical detail you learned in school. Count Otto's dragon is a fun romp you can read in a single sitting--get it and look for more from Don. He's the guy in the picture with the handlebar mustache. Also, don't wear white around dragons.

Count Otto Dragon Don Bemis Books Reviews

I have to confess that I've probably been spoiled by reading much more popular and experienced authors, but this book lacked quite a bit in the plot and characterization department. It's definitely different, but lacks the cohesive material that makes for a good story instead of a bunch of random nonsense. As random nonsense it succeeds, but as a story... not so much.
